TV presenter Kate Garraway’s tragic situation shows that powers of attorney should not just be a priority for the elderly
At Joshua Jacob we have long been advocates of powers of attorney, not just for the older generation but for everyone. We incorporate powers of attorney within every estate planning strategy and recommendation we issue.
The loss of mental and/or physical capacity can strike at any time, causing strain and financial challenges.
Kate Garraway and her family have suffered immeasurable distress and substantial financial loss through not having powers of attorney in situ. We therefore encourage our clients to arrange powers of attorney, no matter their age.
Our recently commissioned video details the process in simple terms:
Through to the 31st July, we will be donating £125 to our chosen charity, Alzheimer’s Society, for every power of attorney package we arrange. You will not only be helping yourself, but also supporting a worthy cause at the same time.
Two powers of attorney are recommended for each person: Health & Welfare and Property & Financial Affairs.
For couples, a full set of four is charged at £995. A registration fee is also applied by the Office of the Public Guardian at £82 per LPA, totalling £328 for all four.
